Steadfast Sweethearts: Keighla Night

Keighla Header

Our Steadfast Sweethearts all have that one thing we look for whenever we scout models: personality. From the baddest chick on the block, to the woman who is the definition of a sweetheart, personality is something that is important to us and the message our brand sends. Keighla Night is everything we could ask for in a Sweetheart: kind, hard-working, and determined. Check out our interview with her, and learn about her start with our brand, her tattoo shops, and more.

Introduce yourself to the world out there!

My name is Keighla Night and I live in Portland, Oregon! I am currently 29 years old and I own two tattoo shops! :)

How did you get started in the modeling industry?

I started modeling fairly young. I was still in high school when I got signed to my first agency. They had me remove my piercings, strip my hair blonde, and hide my tattoo. They told me I wasn't "Pink" and if I wanted to make it, I had to play down my look. When they told me to lose some more weight, I quit. I turned 18 and got more piercings and tattoos. I rebelled against everything, or at least I thought I was. I took 5 years off before I decided to try modeling again. I had worked at a few tattoo shops and done my apprenticeship by then. I decided that I wanted to try my hand at alternative modeling since mainstream had failed miserably. I did a shoot for a friend and it got shared everywhere, and the rest seems like ancient history now. I had found my calling! Tattoo and alternative modeling gave me freedom to be creative. I can go from horror and gore to beauty shots and nothing makes me happier then the variety. So if at first you don't succeed, don't give up! I didn't, and I found exactly where my puzzle piece fits in this world.

How did you start working with Steadfast Brand?

I started working with Steadfast Brand once I signed on with the Diamond Dolls Ink modeling troop. They are a group of amazing tattooed models that help support one another on their modeling journey and in life. They introduced me to the owner of Steadfast Brand at a tattoo expo in Philly. I really loved the style of clothing and the variety so I got some gear and did a small shoot to test the waters! Oh goodness, that's been a few years ago now! The merchandise just keeps getting better and better!

What have been some of your favorite experiences from being a model?

I've been able to meet some of the sweetest, kind, and most beautiful people inside and out. I've been all over the U.S.A. and I've made some of the best memories. I owe it all to modeling. It gave me the kick in the booty I needed to step outside of my comfort zone and reach for my dreams.

Tell us a little about High Class, and what’s been going on with that!

High Class Piercing and Tattoo here in Portland, Oregon has been going strong for 3 and a half years now! We actually opened a second location in Vancouver, WA under the name True Grit. I can't wait to see what the future holds as the businesses thrive!

If you haven’t already had a dream photo shoot, what would it be, and who needs to be behind the camera?

I've actually been very fortunate! One of my favorite photographers is Andy Hartmark, and he was actually one of the first photographers I got to work with once I got serious about alternative modeling. I would have to say that, as far as dram shoots go, I hope that someday I get to work with Christian Saint in New York. I love his style and basically every photo I've seen of his! A girl's gotta have dreams, right?

Tell us what sort of trouble we should get into if we ever find ourselves in Portland!

Oh, Portland! It is definitely a foodie's dream city! I recommend Voodoo Doughnuts to everyone who visits the city. There are also food trucks absolutely everywhere. I would have to recommend the food trucks downtown by Silverado Bar. There is a cart that has reindeer dogs and they are fabulous.
Other than food, there are plenty of hiking trails, waterfalls, rose gardens... the list goes on and on!  Portland also has a tour you can take of the old human trafficking tunnels. There is so much history here.

When you aren’t in front of the camera, how do you stay busy/have fun?

I do private animal rescue. I currently have 5 dogs, all chihuahuas, and 3 cats. They keep me busy the majority of the time. If I do get a free moment, I love to cook. I enjoy trying out new recipes, especially desserts haha.

Any projects/shoots coming up that you want to shout out?

I have a few things in the works, but I can't spoil it yet! I'll be sure to let everyone know as soon as I have more concrete dates. But, I did just get to work with the amazing Yellow Bubbles and her sister Spoiled Cherry when they came up from California to visit! That was so much fun!

When did you get your first tattoo?

Oh, where do I start when it comes to my tattoos, or just tattoos in general! I would have to say my obsession with them started when I was around 10 and I saw Dee Snider's film, Strangeland. I thought the tattoos were awesome, even though the movie was pretty twisted for a 10 year old. I grew up in the country, and my father was a biker with lots of old school biker friends. One of those friends happened to be a tattoo artist, so at the ripe old age of 16, I got my first tattoo. I think the best part of this horrible story is that the tattoo artist was color blind and used a battery powered tattoo machine. I got a black tribal dragon on my shoulder blade as my father held my hand. That sealed the deal for me, and I was hooked. I kept getting more and more tattoos that I have since covered up. I didn't make the best tattoo choices back then when tribal was huge haha. Now, I tell my story to every teenager that tells me they can't wait to get tattooed, and I make sure to add in the cost of repairing the damage. It costs a lot to get a good tattoo, and even more to cover something up.

What was your first modeling gig?

I shot the poster for a Haunted House here in Portland, actually. I didn't know until a year later that they had used the shot! It was a shock when a friend handed me one of the old posters!

What does the future hold?

I don't plan on slowing down any time soon! I'm hoping to open a non-profit dog rescue in the next 10 years. I'll continue to travel and model, as well as take care of my tattoo shops. Who likes sitting around twiddling their thumbs anyway?  ;)
