Meet the Crew: Dani

The crew at Steadfast Brand is certainly an eclectic melting pot of personalities. Everyone here has certain traits and characteristics that make a day at work that much more interesting. For our next crew interview, we've decided to focus on the majestic rainbow bird known as Dani. We talk about everything from her introduction to Steadfast Brand, all the way to her unhealthy obsession with Disney World. You can find out all you need to know about her here.

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

My name is Danielle Bellasalma, but I go by Dani for short. I've been living in Orlando, Florida for 3 years and I've been working with Steadfast Brand for 8 years now.

If the crew were to describe you using 2-3 words, what do you think they would say?

Majestic Rainbow Bird.

When you’re not at work, what are some things you enjoy doing?

I've lived so many places like California, Wisconsin, Georgia, Tennessee, Canada, and now Florida; one thing I never take for granted is what makes that area different or what it's known for. I try and do all the tourist-y things (museums, parks, shopping) as well as find the local gems (food, events, art shows, concerts) that area has to offer. I collect pressed pennies so I'm always going off trying to find destinations that have the machines, I have hundreds. I enjoy going to Disney World a lot. Growing up next to Disneyland in California I used to go all the time; it only made sense that when I moved to Orlando I did the same. I'm obsessed with making time-lapse and slow motion videos, mostly of the sunsets and lightning. I'll sit outside for hours doing that. Garage sales and antiquing are always a must. I collect anything dead, marbles, coroner patches, rocks, coins, maritime, old dental, and surgical instruments and too many books. And of course being an artist, I'm always working on something creative.

I understand you’ve been with Steadfast Brand for a long time. Tell us how you originally got involved with the company, and your many job titles.

I was at a tattoo expo in California, and they introduced themselves to me and asked if I would like to do any promotions for the company at the expo. I have a full back piece of scarification so that caught their attention. From there for years they would send me around to work shows and do shoots. It wasn't until I moved to Orlando that I started working at the headquarters. I've done every job in between and am now the Asst. Warehouse Manager, head of quality control, and in-house seamstress.

Name 5 things you can’t live without, and why.

My knife, because it's my baby. My car, I have a Lincoln Town Car Signature Series, red metallic body, white top, and white leather interior sexy bitch. McDonald's, I love McDonald's. It's a guilty pleasure. Elvira-Immortal, the terrier of terror, my Boston Terrier puppy. Books! I have a huge library of books, whether it's reading or reference for art. My books mean a lot to me.

Disney is generally attended by tourists, and not locals. But you go often. Tell us why.

I love Walt Disney, the parks, the art, movies, songs, everything it is, and everything it stands for. I grew up on Disney and have no shame in holding on to that happiness because I feel the same way about it now as I did when I was a child. The amazing part about Disney World is that there are different parks and places like Magic Kingdom (which is the park with Cinderella's Castle), Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, the Boardwalk, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, Downtown Disney and Epcot which is where I would say I go the most.

You are heavily modified. Would you like to talk about any of your modifications and how those have affected your life?

I started getting modified at a very young age with extreme things that pushed the envelope of just being tattooed or pierced. The choices I've made for my modifications have opened and continue to open an astronomical amount of opportunities for me. People have realized it's a part of who I am and love it. I don't look at anything I do to my body as individual things, but rather as a whole. My brain has a plan for what it wants to see in a reflection unfazed by what's going on around me, and it's just an ongoing art project. I march to the beat of my own drum. Everything I've done stems from a positive, happy place of excitement and creativity.

What magical creature would you use to describe yourself?

There is no magical creature that compares to my essence. I don't think anyone who knows me would argue against me saying that I am, in fact, a magical creature.

What is next for you with Steadfast Brand?

There's a handful of things in the works. I'm going to be getting back into the creative side of being the in house seamstress. We're going to be working a lot with embroidery and different specialty items for the brand. There's been a handful of things that never crossed my mind as something I would be getting into, but Steadfast has opened a lot of different avenues for me with my art and I look forward to seeing what else the future holds!

We'd love to put something here to spruce up this interview, but what more can we say about Dani that she hasn't already? She's incredible, we love her, and we're lucky to have her on the SFB crew. Thank you for everything you've done and continue to do for Steadfast Brand!
